Tips for faster times tables

Choose which tables (2-12) you want, then do a question set or a timed speed test.

  • Start with 2, 5, 10 - then add 3, 4, 6, 8 - then 7, 9, 11, 12.
  • If you miss one table repeatedly, isolate it for 2 minutes.
  • Use patterns: x9 is 10xn - n.
  • Use doubling: x8 is x4 then double.
  • Common mistake: mixing up close facts (6x7 vs 7x8).
  • Common mistake: rushing and dropping a digit under time pressure.
  • Speed test is best after you're accurate - accuracy first, speed second.
  • Do short daily sessions (1-3 minutes) for best retention.

Times Tables Practice FAQ

This page locks one side to selected tables (2-12) and adds a speed test mode - it's designed specifically for times tables.

Use 0-12 for classic times tables. Increase it later for harder practice.

Aim for consistent accuracy first, then try to increase solved count over time.
